About us

Support Belfast Cathedral – a place of historic Christian worship in the heart of Belfast.

In June 2024, we celebrated 120 years of being the Cathedral at the heart of the city, with the city at its heart. Maintaining Belfast's most iconic building as an active place of worship, a place of spiritual sanctuary for the city, and a tourist venue is a difficult challenge. It costs £1 per minute to keep Belfast Cathedral open, and as we are not subsidised by either the government or the Church of Ireland, we look to your generous donations to help sustain our work, our ministry, and our building.

The Dean and community warmly welcome you to experience the stunning architecture and artwork of Belfast Cathedral. Among its many impressive features are mosaics by the Martin sisters, stonework by Rosamund Praeger and Morris Harding, beautiful stained glass, marble tiling, intricate wood carvings, and exquisite needlework such as the handcrafted Titanic Pall. The Cathedral is well-known as the home of Black Santa, through which we raise and give away hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities every December. For those seeking a quiet space for prayer and reflection, the Chapel of the Holy Spirit is open to all visitors.

Thank you for your time and generosity!
